The Whimsical Girl Lifestyle: Habits, Mindset and Everyday Magic

Introduction to the Whimsical Girl

A whimsical girl can be defined as someone who approaches life with curiosity and positivity. She is sweet, yet honest. She’s the kind of girl who doesn’t chase opportunities, but somehow they seem to flow toward her, and the kind whose friends adore but never quite fully understand. She sees magic in ordinary life, and she lights up every room she walks into.

Today we are going to get inside her peculiar mind and try to reap the benefits of her lifestyle. The truth is, she is not usually stressed, angry, or anxious. Instead she remains calm and always looks at the positive side of things. Why wouldn’t we want to learn from her?

The Whimsical Girl Mindset

This type of girl isn’t just an aesthetic you can decide to embody overnight. It requires a certain mindset. One that doesn’t focus on things like overproductivity, stress, anxiety, mindless scrolling, and toxic friendships. She doesn’t even view them as an option. Instead she chooses the positive things, the little things. Things that give her joy without overstimulation, that make her feel alive without toxicity, and things that let her mind wander into her own little world.

A whimsical girl does this by appreciating the little pleasures in life, finding beauty in places that are often ignored, prioritizing personal connection, and keeping her spark and creativity alive while living at a manageable pace.

Habits of the Whimsical Girl

A whimsical lifestyle and mindset can be built by paying attention to your daily routine. Your habits and the things you tend to focus on shape the way you look at life. For the whimsical girl, little simple habits that give her joy, no matter how odd they may seem, are always the way to go. These are a few you can add to your life as a way to destress, disconnect, and reconnect with your creativity.

• “dear diary” journaling or creative writing

• visiting bookstores or museums by yourself

• listening to music and really connecting with it

• spending time in nature (walks, gardening, hiking)

• collecting small beautiful things (like pressed flowers, rocks, or shells)

• no phone days

• crafts and arts like crochet or macramé

• baking cute recipes for loved ones

• watching early 2000s girly movies

• making a scrapbook of pictures of your favorite memories

• reading (check out my 21 Books for the Whimsical Girl here)

Romanticizing Everyday Life

This part is kind of a given, and very important for a whimsical girl. She likes to feel like she lives in a fairytale, or in her own little world. She doesn’t see problems or regrets, she sees opportunities and lessons. She doesn’t make life purposely harder on herself. Instead she takes every moment slowly and treasures it. She has her moments of routine, and her moments of spontaneity, and she loves both.

Her circle is very precious to her, and she chooses it wisely. Sure, she’s nice to everyone, but few people can be considered part of her inner circle. She has no interest in toxic friendships or relationships of any kind. The people who stay in her life are the ones who add to it and understand her way of being. They don’t get mad when she forgets to answer texts, they don’t try to control her or change her in any way. They understand she’s a free spirit and they love her for it. They love her handmade gifts, delicious recipes, and creative insights.
